Maui 2016
I went to Maui for my annual visit to see Dad and to do his taxes. Even though it's Maui, I don't look forward to going. But this time around, Debbie and John came along too and it was a lot more fun than usual. We stayed at the Haleakala Shores, a two-bedroom condo in Kihei which was right across the street from Kamaole Beach Park III. We had amazing views of the ocean from our fourth floor patio where we had nightly dinners of poke, steak, orzo pasta, and salads prepared by Debbie and John.
Dad was in fairly good health. In fact, physically, he looked better than last year, since at that time, he was just getting over a major cold. On the flip side, dad is getting more and more timid and unsure of himself, probably due to his worsening dementia. At times, it was impossible to get him out of the rental car because he was afraid he would fall. Even John had difficulty persuading him out of the car.
Next year, I don't think I can handle dad by myself. Sounds like another family outing by the Fukuda kids!

Maui Sunburst
I was taking sunset photos along the lava rocks in between Kamaole Beach Park II and III when this woman, indifferent to me and my camera on a tripod, really wanted to prance through the water. I was a little annoyed as she went into and out of my frame, but I kept shooting. Turns out that these are probably my favorite photos of the trip!
