Mission Peak HDR Pond
This is an HDR photo of the small pond off of Hidden Valley Trail on Mission Peak. The first three photos were bracketed at -7/3, -2/3, and +1 exposure compensation and manually combined as layers in Photoshop. I find the look of manually combining more pleasing than any HDR software that I've tried so far. The final photo is the finished product. Not the best photo in the world, but it was fun putting together!
Went to Mission Peak on a Saturday before getting together with Shalimar for dinner. My quick lace system on my Salomon's broke right after getting out of my SUV, so I tried to secure it the best I could. I wasn't feeling too confident that it would last, but I went ahead with my hike. About 15 minutes from the Stanford trail head, I went off trail to the little pond over on the left. The pond dries out in the summer, so I decided to take a few photos before it disappeared. I was hoping for some interesting reflections, but none were to be had. The sun had just set. While I was going back to Hidden Valley Trail, my quick lace came loose again so I decided to cut the hike short and head back home.
