Mission Peak Infrared 2
Went to Mission Peak on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. Sunny days are the best for shooting infrared, so I brought along my infrared-converted Powershot G11. After reaching the peak and while putting the camera strap around my neck, I accidentally dropped the camera case and watched it roll down the west side of the peak. I had no idea how far down it went and so it was quite challenging locating it. I might have been willing to let it go, but it had filters, a lens hood, and possibly some other things in it. I had to give it a try. The slope was actually much steeper than it looked initially and I quickly became concerned that I, too, would roll down the hill if I wasn't careful! About halfway down, I paused and looked up towards the area where I started and noticed a cross staked into the ground as if marking a grave. Very ominous! "Oh great!", I thought to myself. I proceeded extra carefully from that point on and was willing to abandon the effort if things got too hairy. I finally saw the case lodged against a large rock and was able to retrieve it. I'm glad I didn't get hurt, or worse!
