Mission Peak Full Moon Perigee
I hiked Mission Peak this past Saturday evening, the same day the full moon was at perigee. Perigee and its opposite apogee generally occur once a month, but the moon's wobbly orbit means that the moon's phase can be different during each perigee/apogee. This month's full moon happened to coincide with its perigee making it appear 30 percent brighter and 14 percent larger than any other full moon this year.
