Annapolis By Land and Sea
Andrew and I went to the University of Maryland for the New Student Orientation. We arrived the day before to familiarize ourselves with the campus so we knew where we had to be the next morning. Andrew had already taken a UMD tour in February with his sister Ly, who lives in NYC, and he loved it. The campus is beautiful and very large - over 20 miles of sidewalks. On Monday, morning we dropped off linens and towels at the Easton residence hall where Andrew would be spending the night and getting a feel for dorm life. After a light breakfast at the Cole Student Activities Building, the parents and students met with several presenters throughout the day. We covered many topics, such as college transitioning, university life, dining, finances, campus security, and health services. The parents and students split up after the first couple of hours with different programs. On Tuesday, Andrew registered for classes while I went on a Land and Sea tour of Annapolis with about 9 other parents. By the end of the day, Andrew had already finished registering for the Fall term. He was very excited!
