Gitane
Shalimar and I had our Saturday night dinner at Gitane Restaurant, in San Francisco's Financial District. The decor, "inspired by the travels of a gypsy and rooted in Southern France, with influences from Italy, Spain, and the bounty of the Bay Area", was over the top, but in a really good way. The abundance of color, lights, and textures made for a very romantic atmosphere. I had the Oak Wood-Roasted Leg of Lamb and Shalimar had the Duo of Liberty Farms Duck. The dishes weren't the best, but perhaps just an off night for them. For appetizers, we had the Brick Oven Roasted Octopus, Wood Oven Maitake, and Oysters. For dessert, we had the Vanilla Panna Cotta.

The photos for the main entrees, perhaps appropriately, were quite blurry due to pilot error, so I didn't include them here. The dessert, however, turned out well! ;-)
